 PERFORMING ARTS SCHOOL

DSA believes that performing arts help students develop interpersonal skills, cultivates, confidence, creativity, the ability to problem solve, collaborate with others, and learn how to receive and deliver constructive criticism with compassion and empathy.

Students learn the importance of focus, dedication, and commitment to tasks as they are preparing for a performance and enduring through rehearsals.  They also reap the rewards of job well done, once the performance is over.

Watercolor Painting

Visual Arts

Visual Arts is art that create works that is primarily visual in nature, such as ceramics, drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, design, crafts, photography, video film making and architecture.  Students will be required to maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA to remain in the program.

Music in education provides a great path for learning and social development among students.  It aids in recall and retention of learning material and creativity, boosting overall achievement in math, reading and other courses.

DSA’s music program includes both individual vocal and choral training, music production and song writing. Students will learn all aspects of music producing and the creation of a song or album including choice of instruments, musicians and recording protocols. Students will be required to maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA in order to remain in the program.

Fashion Design

DSA Fashion Design classes focuses on the skills needed to create, construct and finish many different types of garments. Students will learn gain hands-on experience. Students will also learn the basics of styling including visual concepting, creativity and attention to detail. Students must maintain 2.5 cumulative GPA to remain in the program.

Empty Theater

Theatre

DSA Theatre offers students the opportunity to learn the elements of theatre and drama. Students will be required to performed live plays on stage in front of an audience, write and produce scripts, and maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA to remain in the program.

Ballerina

Students will learn from some of the industry’s top dancers and choreographers in ballet, jazz and hip-hop dance. Students will be required to audition to earn a spot in the program. Students will also be required to travel with the DSA Dance Troupe to compete in local, regional and national competitions. Students must maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA to remain in the program.

Video Production

Video production is the process of producing video content (i.e. moving images/videography).  Students will learn the three stages of video production including pre-production, production, and post-production with each stage requiring a deeper level of commitment. Students must maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA to remain in the program.

DSA Steppers

DSA Steppers are a group coordinated and rhythmic dancers synchronized with extreme movement, singing, speaking, chanting and drama simultaneously. Steppers will be expected to travel and compete in local, regional and national step show competitions. Students must audition to join the group. Student steppers must also maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA.    

Robot

STEAM & ROBOTICS

– STEAM is an integrated robust educational approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics to encourage students to think more broadly.  DSA STEAM classes are a multidisciplinary, hands on class that challenges students to a higher order of thinking. These five disciplines are everyday activities that promote problem solving, creativity and analytical thinking.
